NBN Atlas (National Biodiversity Network atlas) is the UK's largest repository of biodiversity data. It can be searched to see distribution maps for any species, giving information about the species and sources of the data. 

iRecord is a general purpose site for recording and managing your own wildlife records. There is a smartphone App, that allows you to make records in the field, including using your phone's GPS and camera. You can only make a record when you know the identity. You can search, download and view all your own records, and verified records will be uploaded to the NBN atlas. Verification depends on volunteer experts, and varies with type of organism. It is the preferred recording method for many recording schemes. 

iNaturalist is a general purpose recording scheme for making your own wildlife records. It also has a smartphone App that allows you to make records in the field using your phone's GPS and camera. The key difference from IRecord is that it isn't necessary to know the identify your organism to record it – other users will suggest what it might be. You can search and view all your own records, and assist other users with identification. Some records are uploaded to the NBN atlas.
