copyright infringement
« on: June 05, 2013, 01:42:35 pm »
The Scilly Islands Bat Group used an image from Getty Images Intrenational Ltd. on their website without permission and were fined well in exess of 1000 but after negotiations they had to pay about half of the fine. This was however much more than The Bat Group had.
We should take warning about using other peoples work without permission.

If any members or the club feel generous I am sure that the Scilly bat group would welcome any donations to help out.

If they were properly constituted, they could have simply refused to pay anything.  Getty inc. would then be faced with a poor choice.  Forget it.  Or, take the groupto court to sue for the money - which would cost them more in money than they could get back and a rather bad press too. >:(
