Description: branch of Cotoneaster showing characteristic bark swellings caused by this aphid, photographed in a garden, Esk Terrace, 7 April 2013. The aphid itself cannot be seen at this time of year, although there were several dead individuals attached to some of the bark swellings. This species is more usually found on apples. Photo: D.W.
